Magna Online Seminar Fact Sheet

Magna Online Seminars typically are 90-minute, web-based presentations on topics of specialized interest in higher education. Presenting an online seminar for Magna Publications does not require any technical expertise - presenters simply prepare the presentation and deliver it to the attendees over the Internet at the appointed time. Magna handles all of the technology, marketing and other logistics.

How does a Magna Online Seminar work?
During an online seminar, the presenter speaks on a topic in his or her area of expertise. Seminar attendees listen to and view the visual part of the presentation on one computer. Magna Online Seminars that include video are presented in a versatile split-screen mode that shows video in one panel and a PowerPoint presentation in another. No files are downloaded to the computer. Participants are able to email questions during the live presentation.

What are a presenter’s responsibilities?
In addition to preparing and delivering the session, the presenter agrees to
• Submit a session description, session title, 7-10 learning outcomes, and a brief professional biography for marketing purposes
• Provide Magna with PowerPoint handouts to accompany the presentation
• Limit personal or product promotion to one minute at the beginning or end of the conference
• Answer post-conference questions from paying participants submitted within 24 hours after the event, as filtered through Magna

For online seminars that include video, the presenter agrees to travel to Magna Publications’ offices in Madison, Wisconsin, to make the presentation.

Is there an honorarium?
Yes, Magna provides an honorarium. For in-person video presentations Magna additionally provides a travel allowance and one night of lodging.
