Jeanne Widen, Ph.D.
Dr. Jeanne Widen received her PhD in English Language and Literature from the University of Chicago and has worked in higher education in the United States and abroad, in both teaching and administrative capacities. She started teaching literature and writing courses on-ground in 1987 and online in 2004. Her recent work experience includes serving as Chair of the English Department, faculty coach, and president of the faculty senate at an online university for working adults. Dr. Widen's presentations have addressed practical topics of concern to teachers, administrators, and students, such as chairing departments in online programs; optimizing assignments in intensive online courses; working with at-risk students; preventing, avoiding, and responding to plagiarism; and managing attrition rates and academic promotion in undergraduate programs.
