Barr served as vice president for student affairs at Northwestern University from 1992 until she retired in 2000. She currently is professor emeritus in Northwesterns School of Education and Social Policy. She previously served as vice chancellor for student affairs at Texas Christian University (1985-1992) and vice president for student affairs at Northern Illinois University (1982-1985). She has been active in student affairs associations, serving as president of the NASPA Foundation Board and was the 1983-1984 president of the American College Personnel Association (ACPA). In addition to being the co-author of Critical Issues in Student Affairs: Challenges and Opportunities, she is the author or editor of A Handbook for Student Affairs Administration, Student Services and the Law, and Developing Effective Student Service Programs with L. Keating. In addition, she served as editor-in-chief of the monograph series New Directions for Student Services for 12 years. The CD contains an audio presentation with PowerPoint and can be viewed on any standard computer equipped with Windows Media Player. Our CDs are not compatible with Macintosh computer systems.

Arthur Sandeen was the vice president for student affairs at the University of Florida from 1973 to 1999. He served as professor of educational leadership and coordinator of the graduate program in student personnel in higher education from 1999 until his retirement from UF in 2004. He is the co author of the new book Critical Issues in Student Affairs: Challenges and Opportunities. He is also the author of five other books, including The Chief Student Affairs Officer: Leader, Manager, Mediator, Educator and Improving Leadership in Student Affairs Administration. He was elected President of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) in 1977. In 1987, he chaired the committee that wrote the report A Perspective on Student Affairs commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Student Personnel Point of View.
