Using Predictive Models to Craft Classes and Increase Revenue

Admissions Planning For Success

Recruitment & Retention newsletterAdmissions planning and enrollment management have always entailed a certain amount of “guesswork,” but the situation has become even more complicated recently.

Changes in higher education enrollment patterns have put to question established ways of forecasting yields and arriving at reliable estimates.

What worked in the past might not work this year–or next. Predictive modeling is one of the best tools to have in your arsenal for analyzing past efforts and anticipating future results.

The most successful colleges and universities actively collect student data, turn it into actionable information, and use advanced techniques like predictive modeling to be as proactive as possible in crafting next year’s class.

If your institution is ready to begin using predictive models, this seminar is for you as Sarah Parrott and Patricia Casey of Maguire Associates explore the many ways predictive models can help your institution to thrive despite turbulent times.

This 90-minute seminar covers:

  • What predictive modeling is and what it does
  • Predictive models and the enrollment funnel
  • The data needed for successful predictive models
  • Why your campus needs a data analyst
  • Which existing campus resources can help with predictive modeling
  • How predictive models vary for different types of institutions
  • How to conceptualize and design your own simple predictive models
  • Ways to communicate with statisticians when complex models are needed
  • Turning available data into actionable information

This seminar includes an “Enrollment Management Checklist,” a “Design Your Own Predictive Model” Worksheet, and a form detailing “Available Data at My Institution.”

We have designed this seminar as a comprehensive and understandable explanation of predictive modeling for campus leaders.

It is not a course in statistics and will not cover basic statistics or the multivariate techniques needed to program complex predictive models.

You'll also receive supplemental articles about recruitment and predictive modeling.
