Course Overview

With the White House’s release of new Title IX compliance guidelines in April 2014, it is imperative that faculty of higher education institutions receive updated training on how to respond to reports of sexual violence.

Title IX for Faculty: Your Role in Helping Students gives campuses an opportunity to send a clear message about the importance of campus safety for all students.

This training provides your faculty with the knowledge that they need to become impactful allies in efforts to locate, address, and reduce sexual discrimination and violence on your campus.

Using a blend of video and written documentation, Title IX for Faculty: Your Role in Helping Students explains to faculty not just how campuses must comply with the law but also how they can play a supportive role in helping students embrace Title IX in letter and spirit.

This course was developed during the summer of 2014 to specifically address the new Title IX federal mandates.

Participants will learn:

  • Critical definitions involved in Title IX
  • Practical information about how to prevent and identify sexual violence
  • Important nuances of consent
  • Behaviors that may lead to and result in sexual violence
  • How violence impacts victims, and what protections victims have if they choose to report it
  • Proper ways to respond to student-reported sexual violence
  • Responsible employees’ reporting obligations

One of the country’s leading authorities on Title IX compliance, Peter F. Lake, professor of law at Stetson University College of Law, created and presents this course.

It is comprised of new information based on the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights’ Questions and Answers on Title IX and Sexual Violence guidance document. You can be confident your faculty are receiving the right training with the right tone and emphasis.

Title IX for Faculty: Your Role in Helping Students provides uniform training with convenient online access and self-paced learning for faculty members who work on or off your campus.

This course can also be added to most LTI-compliant learning management systems, including Blackboard and Brightspace.
