Educational Technology and Faculty Development
By Thomas Warger
One thing is as true today in education as it has ever been: The abilities of teachers are central to everything that is possible in a curriculum. To some extent, this is a self-fulfilling proposition because faculties, at least in higher education, control the curriculum and determine the content and methods of education. The penetration of educational technology into classroom learning depends heavily on the ability of faculty to develop skills, tools, programs, and information. Faculty development has a wider scope than training in the use of technologies and is a generally inexact term covering a range of activities to assist faculty in the practice of their profession.
