Planning a capital campaign kickoff or a scholarship ceremony is nothing new for most universities, but it takes on special significance when the kickoff event culminates in awarding scholarships to three students who did not apply for them and did not know they were in the running. This is just what Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa., pulled off at the beginning of its capital campaign, “Changing Lives, Building Futures.”
