Last month's poll included two questions. The first was, "Do you have a tenure system at your institution?" 

This is how you responded:

65% responded "yes" there is a tenure system in place at my institution

35% responded "no" there is no tenure system in place at my institution

The second part of the question was, "Have there been efforts to change the tenure system at your institution? If so, what changes have been suggested or implemented?"

The response was:

38% responded "yes" there have been efforts to change the tenure system at my institution

62% responded "no" there have not been efforts to change the tenure system at my institution

Comments on this question included reviewing how student evaluations affect tenure; setting standards for service, scholarship and teaching; reinforcement of scholarship requirements; moving from a tenure system to term contracts; and reviewing the grievance procedure when tenure is denied.

This month's poll question is, "What qualities do you think are most important for a department chair to be successful?"
