Take the Poll!
Last month's question was "Have you taught an online course? Do you plan to teach an online course in the upcoming academic year? Does your institution provide additional compensation or other incentives to teach online?"
Exactly half of those who responded said they have taught and online course, and 56% said they plan to teach an online course in the upcoming academic year.
Only 12% said their institution provides
additional compensation or other incentives to teach online. Some of the
responses to this question indicated the difference between the workload of a
particular class was not different for in-person versus online, administration
showing little support or recognition for those who make the effort and take on
the additional workload to teach online classes, and that some disciplines do
not easily lend themselves to online coursework and so additional compensation
is a non-issue. This month's question is "Have
you used a blog to supplement any of your courses? If not, do you plan on using
a blog? If so, was the experience positive or negative? Please elaborate."
