Take the Poll!
Last month's question was "Have you used a blog to supplement any of your courses? If not, do you plan on using a blog? If so, was the experience positive or negative? Please elaborate."
Nearly three-fourths of those who responded said
they have not used a blog to supplement any of their courses. Of the quarter who
said they had used a blog, the majority
said it was a positive experience. The most-frequently listed benefits of using this
format were seeing students work through ideas presented in class more fully,
and providing a venue for students who might otherwise be too shy or intimidated
to speak out in class. Other comments focused on the benefits of the blog as a
communication tool for the instructor.
This month's question is "How high a priority is improving teaching in your
department?"
