Last month's question was "How does your department reward innovative teaching?"

Nearly 90% of those who responded said there is little, if any, acknowledgment of innovative teaching in their department. Some answers indicated a verbal announcement in a faculty meeting was the extent of the recognition, while others said the "reward" was being added to specific committees where they could contribute ideas (and related workload) based on their area of expertise.

A few respondents stated innovative teaching methods are sometimes rewarded with pay increases or awards (such as "Teacher of the Year"), but there is generally no advertisement of these accomplishments, such as publication in a department- or institution-wide newsletter.

This month's question is "Does your institution or unit have post-tenure review? If so, how satisfied are you with the process?"
