Community College Retention Hits Its Stride

Student retention has come a long way since the 1970s, when higher education researchers started building theory about why students drop out of college. But much of the work, including conducting research and documenting best practices, has been focused on four-year campuses and students. Now, two large-scale projects are tailoring retention principles and strategies to community and technical colleges.
