The University of Wisconsin–Madison has recently announced the formation of a learning community to foster the growth of an urban art form. The learning community will focus on spoken word, most readily identifiable as part of the hip-hop culture but actually a mix of multiple art forms including poetry and storytelling traditions from West Africa.
