Increasingly, students have many pathways to educational experiences. They can engage in distance education, study abroad, and work as student interns in professional settings. Our profession has not yet clearly defined its role in supporting student development in these settings. In order to influence both policy and practice, we must expand our view of who we serve, under what conditions, and by what means.
