Placemaking is, by its very nature, local. Its a process of creating a sense of place within public spaces. The end result of such effort is that people take ownership of their environment; they interact more, safety increases, and caring for one another follows. These are all goals that student affairs educators seek in their campus environments. Student affairs could certainly gain from an examination of place and how it impacts our work.
