Laying Down the Law: Social Hosting Liability

A recent student newspaper article questioned a common practice at campus house parties. The student hosts posted a sign near the keg which said “Must be 21 to drink.” When asked why they put up the sign, the hosts were honest. They said they were trying to limit their liability. What liability? And would a sign really help?
