Damages in Drowning Death The police followed footprints to the river but still do not know if the student fell into the water or was pushed. But the death of a 19-year-old Minnesota State University- Moorhead (MSUM) student has led to legal claims against the school and a campus fraternity. The September 2005 drowning resulted in a lawsuit, filed by his family, seeking damages and legal costs, based on negligence principles.
