Has Early Decision Hit a Plateau?
After more than a decade of an early-decision boom, are we seeing the first signs of a plateau, or even a decline? Recruitment & Retention spoke with several campuses about the most recent round of early admissions. What they said suggest that binding early-decision programs, as well as non-biding early action plans, are alive and well. But that doesn't mean that the market hasn't changed.

Early Action on the Rise
If there’s been a slowdown in the growth of binding early-decision admissions, just the opposite has been the case with non-binding early-action plans. Of the 21 percent of institutions that offer EA, two-thirds of them told the National Association for College Admission Counseling that applications to those plans increased in 2003-2004.
