Indiana State University has been successful in recruiting a diverse student population—15 percent are African-American, and 25 percent are from historically underrepresented groups. “But our faculty, as you might guess, does not represent that diversity, and we as a community came together and felt we had to do something about it,” says Joshua Powers, special assistant to the provost for academic initiatives.
