Recruiting a Diverse, Culturally Competent Faculty

In order to successfully serve an increasingly diverse student population, higher education institutions need a diverse and culturally competent faculty. In an interview with Academic Leader, Vernon Wall  and Kathy Obear of the Social Justice Training Institute explained that achieving this goal involves more than finding diverse candidates. It involves a methodical approach that includes examining the campus and department cultures, developing multicultural competencies, and communicating commitment to diversity.
