Dealing with accreditors can be a confusing and anxiety-producing process.  When the periodic visitation comes around, it is normal for faculty and administrators to be on high alert, hoping their reports and materials are up to par. Nicholas Langlie understands this anxiety.  As the director of DEC Policy and Planning in the school of graduate and professional studies at Longwood University, he deals regularly with issues of accreditation, state authorization, and verifying student identity.  In a 2012 Sloan-C Conference presentation, he discussed how Longwood “is adapting to changing and often confusing Federal rules and guidelines associated with blended and online course delivery.”  He shared his thoughts about working with accreditors with DER.
