What does a new faculty member need to consider as part of the preparation to teach online? Ask this question, and you are likely to receive several immediate answers: The new faculty member must know his or her subject matter, be familiar with enough pedagogical theory and practical experience to ensure good teaching, understand the technology that the university will use to deliver courses, and be familiar with university policies and procedures that the faculty member will deal with daily.This list, however, misses an essential part of the preparation to step into a classroom, whether it is traditional or virtual: ethics.
