Focus on Collaboration, and the Technology Will FollowBy Judy Dahl
For years distance education administrators have been striving to implement best practices in their programs. However, says Joel Levine, Ed.D., director of instructional technology and distance education (DE) in the School of Education at Barry University in Florida, too much of this work has focused on technology use, while comparatively little has centered on strategies such as teamwork and collaborative approaches. Levine believes such strategies and the creation of what he calls communities of learners and communities of developers and implementers are vital to establishing high-quality DE courses.
