Technological literacy has become as fundamental to a person's ability to navigate through society as traditional skills like reading, writing, and arithmetic, said the U.S. Department of Education in its 1996 report titled Getting America's Students Ready for the 21st Century: Meeting the Technology Literacy Challenge.
