Librarians at Appalachian State University in North Carolina have undertaken four initiatives in the past few years to provide its distance learners with library services comparable to those available on campus. ASU offers on-site, online, and hybrid distance programs through the Appalachian Learning Alliance, a consortium of 10 community colleges in North Carolina.
