| September 1, 2000 (Full HTML Issue) Several years ago, administrators at Millsaps College in Mississippi noticed a disturbing trendsome students began their weekends on Thursday night so they wouldnt miss any fun before heading home on Friday for the weekend. The habit led to poorly attended Friday classes and a "suitcase campus" reputation, both factors that can lead to dropouts and transfers. In response, Millsaps College created the student activities planning board Major Productions in 1996 to become the centerpiece of a seven-day college atmosphere to help students feel connected to campus. |
