| GWU Likely Approached Suicide Threats Backwards, Expert Says In 2004, a George Washington University student checked himself into a hospital after having suicidal thoughts. The university reportedly responded by suspending him pending a hearing on disciplinary charges. This spring, the former student filed a lawsuit alleging that the university violated his rights under federal disability law. Student Affairs Leader recently spoke with Gary Pavela, judicial programs director at the University of Maryland at College Park and author of a book on college student suicide, about his thoughts on the lawsuit. |
