A Purposeful Approach to Chair Transition

Given the rate of department chair turnover and the skills and knowledge required to do these jobs well, it makes sense to consider ways to smooth these transitions. Although each department operates under its own set of conditions, there are lessons to be learned from departments that have taken a purposeful approach to leadership succession.
