Committees, especially the work groups sometimes known as subcommittees, can comprise a few people or up to about 10. The role of the committee chair is to handle the awkwardness and somehow make progress in spite of obstacles to the work of the meeting. This concern with feelings is one of the things a group leader can be confronted with.
