Decision-Making for Sustainable Change

Sustainable change requires well-targeted decisions that identify, create, communicate, and implement changes that are responsive to the current context of the institutionís history, cultural values, and market position. Such decisions increase institutional net assets and better assure continuity of the institutionís market existence and perceived value for a foreseeable future. Educational leaders who donít appreciate fully this simple organizational truth of institutional identity self-preservation will frequently be disappointed in their change efforts and/or cause extreme distress in the institutional culture by creating or attempting to implement unsustainable change.
