Deanna McGaughey-Summers, PhD
Dr. Deanna (Deena) McGaughey-Summers serves as the Interim Director of Online Education and Assistant Professor of English at Kentucky State University. Her academic background includes a Master's degree in Sociology from Ohio University, Master's degree in Criminal Justice from University of Louisville, and a PhD in Rhetoric and Composition from University of Louisville.
Dr. McGaughey-Summers's scholarly work focuses on enhancing the online learning experience, which includes investigating methods to increase student engagement and foster a sense of community within online courses; developing innovative approaches to online course design that incorporate narrative elements that guide students through the learning process; and, exploring and implementing effective strategies that leverage technology to improve online teaching practices. She also analyzes how AI can be used to generate authentic and critical thought.
