Ellen Smyth

Ellen Smyth is a professor in the department of mathematics and statistics at Austin Peay State University. She was named the 2010 Innovative Professor, an honor given by the Center for Extended and Distance Education. In 2012, Smyth presented a seminar for Magna Publications on the Nine Essential Traits of the Effective Professor and published a book on Enhancing Instruction with Visual Media: Utilizing Video and Lecture Capture. Smyth has presented recently at over a dozen conferences including the Teaching Professor Conference, Sloan-C's International Conference on Online Learning, Wisconsin's Annual Distance Teaching and Learning Conference, and other conferences.

Smyth has earned an MS in mathematics and a BS in civil and environmental engineering from the Tennessee Technological University.
