Rosemary Tyrrell

Rosemary Tyrrell is the director of faculty development at the University of California Riversides School of Medicine. She is an experienced educator with dynamic background combining education, leadership, and resource development. Prior to joining the UCR SOM, she worked with the ITS team at the Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts for Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, where she developed professional development materials and training to support a move to a new learning management system. She served as an instructional specialist for 14 years and the eLearning instructional specialist for four years at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising where she also taught both face-to-face and online courses and developed a fully online new faculty orientation course for online educators.

Tyrrell received her EdD at UCLA in 2015. Her primary research focus is in the area of faculty professional development in higher education with a particular interest in needs assessment and evaluation. Her dissertation was titled: Exploring the Needs and Perceptions of Online Faculty towards Faculty Professional Development: A Qualitative Study.
