Laura Cruz, PhD

Laura Cruz is a research professor of Teaching and Learning Scholarship with the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence at Penn State. She also holds a position as visiting faculty with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Prishtina in Kosovo, part of a Fulbright specialist appointment. Her published work comprises more than 100 studies in history, pedagogy, and educational development, including her most recent co-authored book, Taking Flight: Making your Center for Teaching and Learning Soar. Her current research interests include curiosity/creativity, integrative learning, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Before coming to Penn State, she served as a tenured faculty member in history, as well as the director of two centers for teaching and learning. Cruz earned her PhD from the University of California at Berkeley.
