Janet Poley
Janet Poley is professor emeritus at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the past president and CEO of the American Distance Education Consortium (ADEC). As a director for communication, information, and technology at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, she worked closely with the Clinton-Gore Administration to develop the extension and outreach capabilities of the national information infrastructure. Poley has received the Excalibur Award from the United States Congress for exceptional government service and the Mildred B. and Charles A. Wedemeyer Award for Outstanding Practitioner in Distance Education. She currently consults, writes, and develops distance education initiatives related to policy, organization development, technology access, and educational applications. She is a Sloan-C Fellow and board member and serves on the editorial board for The American Journal of Distance Education.
