Sherry Zane is the associate director of the Womens, Gender and Sexuality Studies program at the University of Connecticut. She also serves as the assistant professor in residence at the university. While teaching in the program, she found a need to educate faculty and staff about the needs of transgender and gender non-conforming students in the classroom. One of her most popular article including an educational video meant for university instructors, administrators, and staff, Supporting Transgender Students in the Classroom, was published in Faculty Focusin July 2016. Zane continues to work with students on these issues with the hope that educators will recognize the importance of shaping more inclusive educational spaces.
Zane holds a PhD in American history from The University of Connecticut.
