Tona Hangen, PhD, is a professor of history at Worcester State University. She is a social and cultural historian who teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in modern U.S. history, historical research methods, and the pedagogy of history. She has wide-ranging research interests, including digital methods, religion and media, and the history of American civil rights and citizenship.
In 2015 she received her university’s undergraduate teaching award. She holds degrees from MIT and Brandeis University, and is the author of Redeeming the Dial: Radio, Religion, and Popular Culture in America (Chapel Hill: UNC, 2002), among other works.
